19/05/2010: ASEAN CONSULATES GENERAL JOIN ASIAN HERITAGE STREET CELEBRATION
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco joined the Consulates General of Indonesia and Singapore in the successful holding of the Asian Heritage Street Celebration at the Civic Center in downtown San Francisco last Saturday, 15 May 2010. This is the first time that the Consulates General of the three founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) participated in the annual festival.

Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. led the officers and personnel of the consulate in joining the Faces of Asia Procession composed of the two other ASEAN Consulates General as well as leaders, representatives and members of their respective communities in the Bay Area.
The Asian Heritage Street Celebration featured various booths on cuisine, arts and crafts, tourism and trade from the Philippines, Indonesia and Singapore. There were also several day-long cultural presentations performed by local artists and performers from the three countries.

Traditional Filipino dance performances were held to showcase the country’s rich culture and heritage during the celebration in downtown San Francisco.
