The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is pleased to report on the large turn-out of Kababayans in the latest consular outreach mission held in Red Lion Hotel, Salt Lake City, Utah on September 11, 2011.  Starting at 8:00am and ending at 10:30pm, consular services were provided to more than 300 Kababayans.

Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. called this a “record-breaking” mission as previous consular outreach activities in Utah were in the 30 to 50-range in terms of the consular services provided.  The US Census 2010 shows that there are currently 5,600 nationals of Filipino heritage in the state of Utah.

“We are grateful and overwhelmed by the huge attendance of our Kababayans at this recent mission,” stated Consul General Paynor.  Acknowledging the long wait of many Kababayans due to the large volume of consular applications received last Saturday, Consul General Paynor would also like to thank the Kababayans for their patience and indulgence during the mission.

During their stay in Utah, the consular outreach team met with Hon. Peter M. Corroon, Salt Lake County Mayor; Ms. Rebecca Sanchez, Director for Diversity Affairs of the Office of the County Mayor; Mr. Roderick Land of the State Human Rights Commission and Martin Luther King Commission; and leaders and members of various Filipino community organizations.

The outreach mission was organized together with the Philippine American Association of Utah, Utah Asian Chamber of Commerce and NaFFAA – State of Nevada.

Upcoming consular outreach missions will be held in Fresno, California (September 24), Denver, Colorado (October 7-8), Colorado Springs, Colorado (October 9-10), Milpitas, California (October 16, November 13 and December 4), and Seattle, Washington (November 18-20).

Kababayans are advised to visit for more information on the outreach missions and check the requirements.  END
