16/09/2011: DepEd Official to Visit San Francisco to Promote "Ten Moves"

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is pleased to announce that Assistant Secretary Tonisito M.C. Umali of the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd) will visit San Francisco and meet with the Filipino American community on September 28, 2011, 6pm at the Social Hall of the Philippine Center, 447 Sutter St., 5th Floor, San Francisco.  The meeting is open to the public.

During the meeting, Assec. Umali will discuss the Ten Moves!, a campaign recently launched by DepEd and the private sector to raise enough resources to build 10,000 classrooms in public schools all over the Philippines.  Its main strategy is to get 2 million people to donate P10 per day for 10 months.  It is expected to be supported widely by Filipinos and non-Filipinos working together to address an urgent problem of the country, thus, the name “Ten Moves!” which also means “The Entire Nation Moves!”

Kababayans in the US are invited to participate by donating $10 per month, or $100 for the entire 10 months.
