07/06/2010: KABABAYANS INVITED TO FILIPINIANA @ UNION SQUARE

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is pleased to invite Kababayans to “The Filipiniana @ Union Square:  Philippine Independence Day Celebration” on June 12, Saturday at the Union Square.

Organized by the West Bay Pilipino Multi-Service, the Filipino-American Veterans, and the Filipino-American community, the event will start with an opening reception and unveiling of the Dewey Monument Plaque at 1:30pm.  The plaque accurately portrays the struggles in the Philippines after Commodore Dewey's victory in Manila Bay and the US occupation of the islands.

The unveiling will be followed by a cultural presentation from 2 to 4pm.  Performers include the Barangay Dance Company, top Filipino mezzo sopranos and tenors, the Singing Priests of the San Francisco Archdiocese, and the FilVet Rondalla.
