CONGEN PAYNOR THANKS KABABAYANS FOR RECORD-BREAKING NUMBERS AS REGISTRATION FOR OVERSEAS ABSENTEE VOTING ENDS.

Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr. of the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco thanked Kababayans as the total number of Filipino citizens who registered for the period which ended on October 31, 2012 reached 11,308.  This was a very productive year for the Consulate as it surpassed the previous number of registrants in years 2003 (1,292 registrants), 2006 (3,451), and 2009 (2,263).

Consul General Paynor also thanked Inquirer.net, ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel, GMA Pinoy TV, Jollibee, Holland America, Princess Cruises, BPI Remittance Corporation, Lucky Group of Companies, and all its partners in the media and Filipino communities for their active role in promoting Overseas Absentee Voting among Kababayans.

“Without our friends in various sectors who contributed their ideas and helped us in implementing our registration drive, we would not have been able to encourage as many Kababayans to register,” Consul General Paynor remarked.

The next is to prepare for the upcoming May 13, 2013 national elections to choose leaders among senatorial and party-list candidates.

“We hope that registered voters will exercise their right to vote in May 2013,” Consul General Paynor said.

Overseas Absentee Voters will receive their ballots in their mailing address between April 2013 and May 2013.
