13/12/2012: PAROL FESTIVAL IN SAN FRANCISCO CELEBRATES 10TH YEAR
The Filipino American Development Foundation, in coordination with the Bayanihan Community Center in San Francisco, organized the 10th Annual San Francisco Parol Lantern Festival and Parade on Saturday, December 8, in Yerba Buena, San Francisco.
In support of the local Filipino community’s initiatives to promote Philippine culture and traditions, the Philippine Consulate participated in the parade with a 12-man contingent, bearing home-made parols that reflected the color of the Philippine flag.
Deputy Consul General Jaime Ascalon, who addressed the audience during the presentation of the Consulate’s parol, wished Filipinos and San Francisco natives alike “Maligayang Pasko at Manigong Bagong Taon mula sa Konsulado Heneral ng Pilipinas sa San Francisco!”
DCG Ascalon also took the opportunity to remind kababayans to ensure that their passports had sufficient validity to undertake travel during the holiday season.
