10/10/2013: CONSULAR APPLICANTS TREATED TO SNEAK PEEK OF "MGA ANAK NI INANG DAIGDIG"

Consul Reichel Quiñones with the members of the Mga Anak ni Inang Daigdig (Children of Mother Earth)

Applicants at the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco
received a rare treat last Tuesday, October 8 as they waited for the
afternoon release of their consular documents. Members of the Mga Anak
ni Inang Daigdig (Children of Mother Earth), a performing group from
Smokey Mountain in the Philippines, entered the consular waiting area
to present songs and dances from their upcoming concert at the Skyline
College in San Bruno on Saturday, October 12.

The young performers, who are in their teens, opened the sneak
peek performance with a lively rendition of "Pilipinas", which invites
listeners to visit and enjoy the beauty of the Philippines. The
troupe, which will be traveling throughout the United States to raise
funds for the reforestation of Mount Ayaas and the education of
out-of-school youth in Tondo, Manila, was formed in 1994 and is
comprised entirely of youth who were born and raised in Smokey
Mountain, the third largest untreated garbage dump in the world.

Their concert on Friday will be held at 2PM and 7PM. For tickets please call Joe Espinueva at telephone number 650-892-7184, or Victoria Medina at telephone number 415-377-1398. For more information on Mga Anak ni Inang Daigdig,
