The Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc. (BBFI) has announced that the deadline for submission of nominations for the 2013 Bagong Bayani Awards has been extended.  Interested individuals may now send their nominations until February 28, 2014.  The Awarding Ceremony will be one of the highlights of next year’s Migrant Workers Week celebrations, and is scheduled to be held on June 3, 2014.

The Bagong Bayani Awards is a national search for the Philippines’ most outstanding and exemplary Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW).  It aims to pay tribute to OFWs, as well as to recognize their significant efforts and contributions to the community, to society and to the Philippines as a whole.  The Awards has been organized by the Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization in the Philippines that promotes the recognition, appreciation and welfare of OFWs.  The Bagong Bayani Awards has been presented to deserving OFWs since 1989.

There are five categories for the Bagong Bayani Awards, namely:


  • Bagong Bayani Award for Outstanding Employee
  • Bagong Bayani Award for Community and Social Service
  • Bagong Bayani Award for Culture and the Arts
  • Capt. Gregorio S. Oca Achievement Award
  • Blas F. Ople Award para sa Natatanging Bagong Bayani (highest honor)
