13/12/2016: JAPAN CONSUL GENERAL HOSTS HOLIDAY LUNCHEON FOR THE LEAGUE OF SAN FRANCISCO CONSULAR CORPS

The League of San Francisco Consular Corps (LSFCC) members and their spouses and partners, through the efforts of, among others, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, Madame Mariza Bensurto and Mrs. Cecile Ascalon, made a donation to the Pilipino Senior Resource Center (PSRC) at a Holiday Luncheon hosted by Consul General Jun Yamada at his residence on 01 December 2016.

The Consulate, guided by its mission to Spark* Connect* Empower* the Filipino-American Community, endeavored to engage the LSFCC to generate awareness and extend assistance to Filipino-American organizations in the Community who are in need.  In Post’s efforts to bring greater consciousness for the seniors of the Community, it was able to provide support to Pilipino Senior Resource Center (PSRC), particularly the Filipina Breast Cancer Support Services, through its engagement with LSFCC.  Dr. Joaquin Jay Gonzalez III, Ph.D, PSRC Board President, received the donation on behalf of the organization.

Consul General Yamada acknowledged the presence of members of the 2016 LSFCC Board, which includes Vice President Mariza Bensurto, the wife of Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr.  The 2016 Board President, Usha Ashok of India, welcomed the members and spouses to the luncheon.

Mrs. Cecile Gregorio Ascalon, a member of LSFCC, also attended the event, and was accompanied by her husband, Deputy Consul General Jaime Ramon T. Ascalon.

With a mission to build deep friendships among members through social, cultural and intellectual exchanges, and to engage, serve and support Bay Area charities through philanthropy, LSFCC supported three (3) charities, including the Pilipino Senior Resource Center (Filipina Breast Cancer Support Services).  END
