The Philippine Consulate General conducted a Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) at the Philippine Folklife Museum of the Philippine Center on Wednesday, 21 June 2017, for the San Francisco delegation that will be attending the 11th Annual Ambassadors’ Tour in Manila and Davao on 10 to 16 July 2017.

The program began with a video about the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco and the 11th Ambassadors’ Tour.  Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. took the opportunity to welcome the delegates to the Philippine Center, thanking them for their interest in connecting with their Filipino roots and heritage.  He enjoined the delegates to take part in the movement to Spark*Connect*Empower* the Filipino-American Community by sharing their experiences during the Ambassadors’ Tour to family members and friends, and encouraging others to take that step to get to know the Philippines once again.

The Consul General took note of the attendance of two millennials who are participants of the Tour, stating that their presence gives hope that the preservation and perpetuation of Filipino culture will be continued for the next generation of Filipino-Americans.

San Francisco’s Tourism Director, Ms. Pura Suanding-Molintas, went through the Tour’s itinerary with the participants, informing the group of attire requirements, information on currency exchanges and power voltages.  Representatives of Pacific Air Leisure’s Lyn Abad, Rajah Tours’ Esther Briones, and Philippine Airlines’ Emelyn Roxas-Liwag were present to answer questions regarding the group’s itinerary.

DOT prepared travel kits for each member of the delegation.  16 of the 35 members of the delegation were able to attend the PDOS.  END
