18/12/2017: SFA CAYETANO CONVEYS SYMPATHY TO VICTIMS OF TRAIN DERAILMENT IN WA; NO REPORTS OF FILIPINO CASUALTIES AT PRESENT PER PH CONGEN IN SF

San Francisco – Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano conveys his sincerest sympathies to the victims of the train incident which occurred today near DuPont, Washington.

Consul General Henry S. Bensurto, Jr. and the Philippine Consulate General personnel are in contact with the Healthcare Emergency Coordination Center of the Northwest Healthcare Response Network (NHRN), U.S. State Department Office of Foreign Missions, Amtrak hotline, and several Filipino community leaders in Washington State.  At this time, there are no reports of Filipino nationals involved in the incident.

The Philippine Consulate General continues to closely coordinate with U.S. authorities and Filipino community leaders to monitor the situation and determine if there are any Filipinos affected by the incident.
