28/03/2018: CONSULAR CORPS LEAGUE ARRANGES VISIT TO AÑO NUEVO STATE PARK FOR SAN FRANCISCO CONSULAR CORPS

The League of the San Francisco Consular Corps (LSFCC), headed by Mrs. Mariza Bensurto, visited Año Nuevo State Park on 13 March 2018 for the birthing of elephant seals in the northern coast of California.

Members of the Consular Corps, through the League of the San Francisco Consular Corps, observed birthing elephant seals during their visit to Año Nuevo State Park.

The event is part of LSFCC’s efforts to promote social, cultural and intellectual exchanges, and in the process, build deep personal friendships among members.  The visit sought to encourage the consular corps to get to know each other as they explore the area and immerse themselves in Northern California nature.

The Park’s rangers attended to a group of about 50 people, with members of the LSFCC and their families attending the event.  The rangers ran through the birthing cycle of elephant seals, and pressed upon the attendees the importance of respecting the seals in their natural habitat.

In line with the Consulate’s movement to Spark*Connect*Empower* the Filipino-American Community, the Philippine delegation was in full support to interact and network with members of the consular corps.

Despite the rainy weather, members of the consular corps were grateful for the opportunity to visit the place and thanked LSFCC for arranging the visit. END
